Next week is Teacher’s Appreciation Day!

May 15th is a special day of celebration in Korea and we will be celebrating our teachers and staff here at ISB (yes, all 124 of them) by treating them to a delicious lunch.
Please donate to the spread by signing up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090e4ea9a628a2f85-teacher1
We kindly request all food be dropped off at the Parents Room by 11 am on 15th May.
If you can lend a hand that morning or would like to take charge of decorating any of the following 2 areas: ES Teachers Lounge or the MHS Teachers Lounge,  please sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090E4EA9A628A2F85-teacher2.
We plan to head out to brunch afterwards.

ISB International Cookbook

How was the food at International Day? Wish you had the recipe for the scones from the UK or the spring rolls from Vietnam? Want to know the story behind Anzac biscuits during WWI? Then you need to get yourself a copy of the ISB 35th Anniversary Cookbook!  All recipes are family favourites from families and staff at our school, so it makes a wonderful souvenir of your time here or as a gift for family back home.
Head to the school reception desk to place your order.  You can pay by cash or bank transfer and all orders must be in by 31 May!

As a fundraiser, please also consider your purchase a donation, as all of the proceeds go towards extra items that teachers wish to purchase to enhance your kids education at ISB!

The cookbook includes over 125 pages of recipes, crafts, and kitchen tips and is only ₩20,000.
Special thank you to Amber Kneen for coordinating and collating this fabulous cookbook and to everyone who sent in the recipes.  It’s a wonderful collection that I’m sure we’ll all treasure!

Students who are returning to ISB in August 2019 and who have returned all of their library books will be permitted to borrow library books to read over the summer starting on Monday, June 3. Students will take responsibility for the books and any books not returned when school begins in August will need to be paid for. Please direct any questions to Ms Graff or Mrs Gysbers: library@bifskorea.org

Futsal Tournament 3-4 May

A wonderfully successful tournament last weekend for the boys and girls Futsal Soccer teams. They were all wonderful representatives of ISB. They showed other teams not only how to play but also how to behave with grace and with great humility. The boy’s team took third place while the girl’s team was ultimately successful, winning the whole tournament.

Our dedicated BEARISTAS!!!

Please join us in thanking the dedicated BEARISTAS who have volunteered their time each week in The BEAR Necessities throughout the 2019-20 school year: Heather Arnot, Irini Choi, Fern DiBella, Jenn Johnson, Marsha Nelson, and Andy Vaughan.  Also Luisa Mencos and Jen Stundahl who filled in on occasion, when needed. Special thanks, also, to Yumi Kim who has, in addition to working in reception and admissions, assisted with ordering, translating and many other functions within the shop throughout the year!

Several of these BEARISTAS will be moving this summer and we are looking for volunteers to replace them!! As shop hours are determined by the availability of our volunteers, the more volunteers we have, the more convenient it is for our school families. We’d love for you to join our team of volunteers!! No experience is needed! Training is provided!! For more information about volunteering in The BEAR Necessities, contact shop@isbusan.org.

KISAC MS Basketball

A tremendous dominant performance by the boys’ team this afternoon in the school Gymnasium. The team played like a well-oiled machine. I look forward to what tomorrow brings!
