Grade 10 students should have chosen their Personal Project topic and started in on their research and Process Journal by the end of next week.  All students have been assigned a supervisor to coach them during this sustained project.  In addition, Grade 10 students have met with Grade 11 students to get advice and answers to their questions. Please help your child out by asking him/her about the project and encouraging research.  You can get more information about the Personal Project on the ISB Personal Project Google site. Please feel free to contact Ms. Montague if you have any questions or concerns.

Head Lice Alert (머릿니 주의)

Dear parents,

There has been a case of head lice in a student in grade 8. Please check your child’s hair and scalp carefully.

  1. Find a comfortable well-lit area.
  1. Wash hair. Apply conditioner and leave in(do not rinse). Use a fine toothed lice comb to check the hair. Check the hair from the scalp to the end of the hair strand. First look at the hair at the back of the neck, behind the ears and above the forehead. Then, check the rest of the head.

You are looking for live lice. They are the size of a sesame seed and are tan, brown or grey.

3. If you find a louse, check all household members. Treat only those who have lice (Head Lice Shampoo or Wet combing)  If you do not find lice, it does not mean that your child does not have lice or that he/she will not get it.

Check again in a few days.

4. Let the school know if your child has head lice.

Head lice are not a major public health concern because they do not spread illness or disease.

Head lice can be itchy and uncomfortable. When head lice are founded treatment should begin immediately.

After one medical treatment (special head lice shampoo) has been given, the student will be allowed to return to school.

For further information, please contact the school nurse.

Please find attached HERE, the schedule for the year. All parents are invited to attend these sessions which begin at 9.00am and conclude at 10.00am, in time for the PTA meeting. They will always take place in the ELC Hall, 1st floor, Building B, unless otherwise advised.

AISA VB Tournament

Dear Parents

On October 11th to 14th, 2018, BIFS will be hosting the Varsity Boys Volleyball Tournament in our international athletic league, the Association of International Schools Asia (AISA). One of the problems we have as a smaller school is supporting the homestay program that is an integral part of the conference.

In order to run a successful tournament, we need to ask your support in opening up your home to host students. The tournament is quickly approaching, so PLEASE consider helping us find beds for the athletes.

All information can be found in The Bears Athletic Program –Homestay

If you have any further questions, please contact the AISA Homestay Coordinator, Miky Lee at –  mlee@bifskorea.org

We thank you for your support of BIFS Athletics!

Managebac in the Secondary School

Managebac is our student learning management platform. It is a very powerful system that allows the curriculum at BIFS to be clearly constructed and easily adjusted over the course of the year. It is also a tremendous tool for parents, as it allows you to view the progress of your child. Amongst other features, it enables you to see the homework that has been set, major assignments and their due dates, comments made by teachers on specific pieces of work etc. Once access has been established, I encourage all parents to check Managebac on a regular basis and to communicate directly with teachers as issues arise.

Here is a link to the form Mr Gysbers has created to begin the process of allowing you access to ManageBac: https://goo.gl/forms/RqzApeLQk423eTnh1.

When able, please respond to this Google Form. Mr Gysbers will send you a welcome e-mail that comes straight from ManageBac. He will also send you a personal e-mail saying that you should have received a welcome e-mail (just in case it didn’t arrive) along with a video explaining the parent portal. Mr Gysbers is happy to have an information session for parents should there be sufficient demand.
