Dear ISB Community,

I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all new and returning families. This year, we welcome 7 new teachers and 44 new students to ISB. With our starting enrolment at almost 300 students, we continue to be the school of choice for internationally-minded families seeking a quality IB education in Busan. We remain truly international – with staff and students now representing more than 35 nationalities.

As we start the new year, I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate  the graduating class of 2019 on their excellent IB Diploma Results. Our students achieved a 100% Diploma pass rate and an average of 34 points compared to the World Average of 30 points. ISB’s top scorer received an outstanding result of 40 points, putting them in the top 10% in the world. We are delighted with these results and I would like to thank our talented team of teachers for all the support and guidance they provided for our graduating students.

The 2019-20 academic year is an important one at ISB. Throughout the year we will be focussing on the completion of our self-study evaluation report, in preparation for our 5 Year Accreditation and Evaluation Visit from the International Baccalaureate (IB) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) in November 2020.

Over the next few weeks, we have scheduled a number of events and activities designed to connect the members of our community and provide you with important information for the year ahead.

Our New Student and Family Orientation Morning takes place on Friday 9th August from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. (information for the Orientation Morning has already been sent to new families).

Our first day back at school on Monday the 12th August includes a Welcome Back Coffee Morning at 8.45 am and a Whole School Assembly at 3.00 pm. We welcome you to join us. I look forward to sharing with you a purposeful and productive year!

With best wishes,

Simon McCloskey
